Chesapeake Choral Arts Society auditions new members        Town of La Plata Summer Concert Series: US Navy Band, "Sea Chanters"  (traditional choral and Broadway tunes)  
             

The critically acclaimed drama, "Steel Magnolias" runs from July 13 to August 12, 2007. Set in Chinquapin, Louisiana, this all-female cast brings to life a small-town beauty salon and its flamboyant, and often out-spoken, clientele. When sudden tragedy befalls the group, they find their inner strength, and love for each other, to pull them through difficult times. From shedding tears of laughter to tears of loss, this alternately hilarious and touching play will deeply move you.

On the eve of her twenty-fifth birthday, Catherine, a troubled young woman, has spent years caring for her brilliant but unstable father, a famous mathematician. Now, following his death, she must deal with her own volatile emotions; the arrival of her estranged sister, Claire; and the attentions of Hal, a former student of her father's who hopes to find valuable work in the 103 notebooks that her father left behind. Over the long weekend that follows, a burgeoning romance and the discovery of a mysterious notebook draw Catherine into the most difficult problem of all: How much of her father's madness-or genius-will she inherit?

A romantic comedy tells the story of four English women who break free of their rain-drenched sorrows and oppression for a month in a rented Italian castle.  Based on the 1920's novel by Elizabeth von Arnim, it promises better times and a sunnier outlook for everyone.

Auditions for "Misery"

NobleHeart announces auditions for Misery
Monday August 6 at 7 pm and Thursday August 9 at 7 pm.


Auditions will be held at the Indian He ad Center for the Arts Black Box Theater, Indian Head, Maryland .  Auditioners should provide head shot and resume and be prepared with a dramatic monologue.  Cold readings may also take place.  Rehearsals will be Monday and Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings.

Misery

Written by Stephen King, Directed by Craig Hower

Novelist Paul Sheldon crashes his car on a snowy Colorado road. He is found by Annie Wilkes, the "number one fan" of Paul's heroine Misery Chastaine.  Annie is also somewhat unstable, and Paul finds himself crippled, drugged and at her mercy. This show promises to keep you on the edge of your seat. If you are looking for a suspenseful drama, this is one you will not want to miss.

On Monday, August 27, 2007, the Chesapeake Choral Arts Society begins rehearsals for its 2007-2008 season.  

Auditions, for the purpose of placement (soprano, alto, tenor, bass), begin at 7:00 pm, followed by rehearsal at 7:30 pm... all at the La Plata United Methodist Church at the corner of Routes 301 and 6 in La Plata.

High School  and college students are welcome to join this Adult Choral group as well.

  • F2W (Free 2 Worship) from South Potomac Church and 

  • The Nikki Lerner Band from Bridge way Community Church in Columbia , MD.

Auditions for The 1940's Radio Hour

Producer Cindy Johnson announces that auditions will be held in the Port Tobacco Players' Theater on Monday, August 20 and Thursday, August 23 at 7 pm, and again on Saturday, August 25 at 2 pm for the musical play, The 1940's Radio Hour.  

Director Rich Highby, Music Director Will Derr and Choreographer Brooke Howells are looking for 9 men and 4 women to fill out the cast.  Actors aged 17 and above should come prepared with a musical selection (please bring your own music) and be ready to read from the script.  Male and female actors auditioning for the roles of Connie Miller and B.J. Gibson should be prepared to learn to tap and jitterbug.

Rehearsals (location TBD) will be held on Monday and Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.  Production dates are November 23 through December 9.  Anyone wishing to join the production crew should contact Cindy at ginger1940s@comcast.net or call 301 934-5778.
