About Our Logo

The Charles County Arts Alliance logo ("Artsy")
symbolically represents ALL THE ARTS as one:

  Dance
Artsy is a dancer, with the position of the legs creating the letter "A" for both "Arts" and "Alliance."

    Music
Artsy's head and hair form a music note, representing musicians. The hair appears windswept, suggesting energy and forward momentum.

    Drama
In Artsy's hands held high is a curved theater stage on which actors perform, and the footlights which serve to illuminate those actors.

    Visual Arts
Artsy also holds a symbolic artist's palette containing colorful splashes of paint; a paintbrush is depicted on the top left, representing visual artists.

    Literature
On the top right is Artsy's quill pen, representing literary artists - writers, poets, essayists and others.

      And

    Synergy
In the top center, high above Artsy's head, is the spiral, representing the coming together of all five creative elements - the performing, visual and literary arts - in a mutually beneficial, mutually supportive environment. Together, the whole becomes more than the sum of its parts, and thus an exciting synergy is formed - "The Arts!"
