The
Arts were certainly celebrated on May 4, 2008 as
members of the Charles County Arts Community
gathered at the Swan Point Yacht and Country Club
for CCAA's Annual Membership Reception and Meeting,
which included a final salute to CCAA's 20th
Anniversary Year!

Charles County Commissioner Gary Hodge and CCAA
President Diane Rausch, surrounded by the CCAA Board
of Directors and Staff, cut the CCAA 20th
Anniversary Cake!

Those
who attended CCAA's 2008 Membership Reception and
Meeting were given the opportunity to view/purchase
the artwork of many local visual artists and a newly
published work by literary artist Frank Comstock...

The
weather was picture perfect, so many took the
opportunity to enjoy the view from the veranda.

Meanwhile,
musical selections were being performed indoors by
some outstanding voice students
of
CCAA Business Member Saltnote Studio.

After
this wonderful and very entertaining Social Hour, we
moved into the multi-faceted Business Meeting.
Charles County Commissioner Gary Hodge announced the
surprise of the day: A possible Arts
Center in the near future! He has been
working with B.F. Saul Company and the CCAA in
procuring 8600 square feet of space on the 2nd floor
of the Smallwood Village Center. Currently, a
feasibility study is being conducted by the Charles
County Department of Planning and Growth Management
to determine the anticipated costs associated with
occupying this space.
An
OPEN HOUSE will take place on Saturday,
May 17th for CCAA members between the hours of 2:00
- 5:00 pm, and again on Sunday, May 18th
for the General Public, also between the hours of 2:00
- 5:00 pm. All are encouraged to come on
over to Smallwood Village Center during those
hours to preview the space and provide input as to
its potential use. We are grateful to
Commissioner Hodge for his efforts in this regard,
and look forward to hearing the outcome of the
feasibility study and the suggestions of the arts
community as our Open House weekend nears!

Four
of the Six CCAA Scholarship Recipients were on hand
to receive their scholarships from CCAA President
