CCAA Celebrates the Arts & Grantees!

Administrator 09/11/11

To give is better than to receive and the Charles County Arts Alliance practices this faithfully every year when we get the opportunity — actually, the privilege — to award grants to some very deserving schools and organizations in Charles County. We will be awarding more than $50,000 in grants — the amount grows each year!

This year, we will celebrate the arts and the winners of our annual grant round for our Artists in Education (AIE) and Community Arts Development (CAD) grants on Saturday evening, November 19, from 6:00 – 9:00 pm, at the historic Old Waldorf School (across from the Jaycee Community Center) in Waldorf. Once again, we will transform the quaint school space into a festive ballroom! This year’s decorating theme — “From the Vineyard” — is in keeping with the lovely watercolor (above) created by local artist Betty Carney, one of our members. In addition to fine fellowship with other members of the Charles County arts community, we will have a silent art auction, and will enjoy great wine, elegant hors d’oeuvres, fabulous dinner fare, and delectable French desserts.

Our live entertainment this year is really special: the newly formed Southern Maryland Jazz Orchestra will wow you with their skill as they perform a wide variety of great jazz selections for your listening pleasure. The orchestra is under the direction of Dr. Roy Jenkins, one of our Board members.

If you are interested in joining us on November 19, as we celebrate the grantees and the arts, please give our office a call, 301-392-5900, and let us know you are coming! The cost is $20 per person, payable at the door. RSVP required.
