Southern Maryland Banjo Project

Read about the inaugural event in Southern Maryland News.

The Southern Maryland Banjo Project was developed by the CCAA with numerous community partners to celebrate and illuminate the banjo’s West African roots, its forgotten pioneers, and its significant history in Charles County and the greater Chesapeake region. The first event in the series was a discussion panel recorded on April 17, 2021 at Friendship Farm Park in Nanjemoy. Professor Chuck Perryman from the College of Southern Maryland moderated the discussion. Panelists included Byron Thomas, Pete Ross, Kristina Gaddy, and David Wooldridge.
